Pino’s @ OUG

31 01 2010

I came across this Chinese coffee shop along Steven Corners at OUG selling… Italian pizza. As strange as it sounds, the huge banner display outside the shop is rather obvious and will certainly spark the interest of those who are walking along the walkway. However, don’t expect posh dining with fancy interior decos.

The shop apparently sells economy rice during day time. By around 7 p.m. the pizza stoves will be set up and a man (who looks like an Italian himself) dressed up in chef clothing will be busy preparing the pizzas.

Too bad I did not bring a long my camera that night but I managed to take some shots of the pizza when I packed it back home. I chose the Hawaiian pizza which costs around RM 15.

The taste wasn’t too bad either. The dough is crispy and thin while there are a generous amount of toppings on top.

Kie Kee Chicken Rice… again

29 01 2010

There are a lot of nice restaurant to eat around Petaling Jaya. Some places warrant a second visit, or even third. However, in the case of Kie Kee chicken rice shop at PJ Old Town Food Court, I have lost count with how many times I have been there.

Perhaps what makes their chicken rice special is the tenderness of the chicken meat. Also, their black gravy sauce is very flavoursome which contribute to the overall taste.

I have also blogged about the yummy ice kacang sold by Weng Kee which is just a few shops away.

The richness of the gula melaka and coconut milk is a killer combination which makes the dessert so irresistible.

Cendol is served in tall glass while ABC ice kacang is served using a bowl.

Candid shot

I took this candid shot while waiting for our food to arrive at Kei Kei Chicken Rice shop. It has been a while since I took pictures of my other half so here is my favourite one below.

Here are the final set of pictures taken for Ice. A big ‘thank you’ to her for giving us a chance to take her photos. It was certainly a great experience for all of us.

Here are some additional pictures taken for Ice. Halfway through the shoot, my friend, Yeong came up with the idea of using his spare camera as a prop. More pictures coming soon….

Ice @ Technology Park Malaysia

20 01 2010

Last Sunday, my colleague organised a shooting event at Technology Park Malaysia. Kudos to Ice for being very accommodating throughout the entire session despite the mosquitoes and harsh sunny weather. It was an equally challenging photoshoot session for me as well,  since there were eight photographers vying to get the best angle to take her shots.

Tasty Pot @ Sunway

19 01 2010

I blogged about Tasty Pot @ Sunway a few months ago. Ever since I tried their barbecue crabs, I’d always wanted to go there again. Imagine my disappointment when their staff told me that their BBQ crabs are only done on weekdays. Being their signature dish, I can’t imagine how they decided NOT to have this on weekends when customers are pouring in.

Still, the variety of stuff to choose from are still impressive. There were certainly many kinds of meatballs to choose from.

They even provide different sauces to compliment the food.

For those who can’t wait for the food to be cooked, Tasty Pot does offer fried rice or noodles to eat. Here is a picture of Char Kuey Teow with Mutton Curry. Surprisingly, it is really good.

Besides that, their sesame roast chicken was noteworthy as well.

We also took a variety of other seafood…

One thing that caught my eyes (and taste bud!) was their omelette. Barbecued with crab shell, the fragrant taste of the shell mixed with the beaten eggs does provide an interesting flavour.

Indulge @ Tropicana City

17 01 2010

I came across this dining place called Indulge a while back while walking around Tropicana City Mall. The place looks nice from the outside which prompted me to try out their set lunch last week.

I ordered the Roasted Lamb Leg which came highly recommended by the waiter. The set costs RM 15.90 which comes with soup of the day and a drink. The soup was actually Prawn Bisque Soup which tasted rather average if you ask me. Somehow, there was a bit of burnt taste in it.

Next came the main course. It looks nice with the slices of roast lamb leg stacked up with some vegetables on the side.

However, I was disappointed with the dish. The meat was dry (as if it was left overnight) while the black pepper sauce didn’t taste that great either.

The vegetables were fresh and that was the only thing that I like anyway.

The waiter was nice enough to give me a complimentary ice-cream which, honestly, was much better than the aforementioned dishes.

Meatworks @ Solaris

14 01 2010

Last Thursday, I decided to bring my girlfriend for dinner at Solaris, Mont Kiara. Despite hearing so much about this place, I have never been to this place until that night.

Initially, we wanted to try out the Japanese buffet at Tenji but after looking at the price, we decided to look elsewhere. That was when we stumbled across Meatworks which is just right in front of Cold Storage supermarket.

Meatworks is a restaurant, deli, butchery and meat studio all mixed into one. With its unique concept, customers can walk in to purchase fresh meat and even participate in cooking classes apart from dining in there.

For starters, we took the Meatworks Chips (RM 12) which is basically fries with spicy garlic sauce.

The fries were thick and goes well with the garlic sauce.

I also ordered a cup of Earl Grey Tea…

As for the main dish, I ordered the Texas BBQ Burger (RM 24) which comes with ground beef chuck, Texas BBQ sauce, North Carolina Coleslaw and corn crusted onion rings.

The beef was tender despite asking for it to be cooked well done. The BBQ sauce was flavoursome too. The only problem was the size of the burger. The beef chuck was quite thick and and I had to eat the individual pieces of bread, onion rings and meat separately.

My girlfriend tried the Portobello Burger (RM 24) which comes with ground beef chuck, chargrilled Portobello mushroom, sliced cheddar cheese.

This is how it looks like…

The beef chuck was really thick. Here’s a picture of the meat with cheddar cheese on top on it.

Overall, the food was pretty good. Although the price is not cheap, the portion and taste makes it all worthwhile.
