Fusion Haven @ The Strand

30 10 2009

I had a quick dinner at Fusion Haven last night. I have blogged about this place before so I won’t elaborate much on it.

Unfortunately, the place where I was sitting had dim lighting which makes it difficult for me to take a good shot of the food I was having. What was even more embarrassing was that my camera settings were set wrongly after my colleagues played with it earlier thus rending my picture quality slightly bad.

I tried the grilled spicy chicken chop. What makes this special was the red sauce that was pour on top of the grilled chicken.

It was slightly spicy but yet, it complemented the dish very nicely.

My colleague took the unagi omelette which happens to be my favourite one by far.

A closer look at the tempting dish.

Nando’s Chicken @ Mid Valley

28 10 2009

It has been a while since I had Nando’s Chicken. While walking around Mid Valley, the urge to have something spicy suddenly came about and I decided to have my lunch there. A quick fact: Nando’s has been around for 20 years around the world.

One of the best feature about Nando’s Chicken is the choice of their Peri-Peri flavours. Basically, you can choose either mild, hot or extra hot Peri-Peri sauce. For those of you who are adventurous enough, the extra hot Peri-Peri will certainly give you a run for your money! Their menu comes with a cute Peri-o meter which gives a pretty good indication of which flavour suits you most.

I took the mild Peri-Peri Chicken which came with two side dishes.

Their fries are thick and long which is a far cry from those skinny ones at McDonald’s.

Overall, the chicken was nicely grilled and tasted good. I added some tomato sauce to give the extra ‘zing’…

Sea of Crocs

27 10 2009

While walking around Mid Valley last weekend, we stopped by Crocs to look at their shoes. No longer confined with producing plastic shoes, they have since came up with some other varieties with look more appropriate to wear. I was amazed with the different colours and designs of shoes that were displayed there.

6 to 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak @ Petaling Jaya

26 10 2009

I have always wanted to blog about this place. Located just a stone throw away from my old house, 6 to 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak is a very famous eatery at Section 17, Petaling Jaya. During night time, the place is usually packed with customers.

Ever since it is opened many years ago, I have been frequently dining at this place. Their business hours were from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (hence the name) but they have since catered to the lunch hours crowd as well.

To me, a good nasi lemak is determined by the santan or coconut milk rice, the accompanied dishes (sotong, beef, mutton or chicken) and of course the sambal.

6 to 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak has perfected their recipe and make one of the best tasting nasi lemak ever.

I chose their sambal cuttlefish last weekend and it tasted really good.

The sambal was not overly spicy which is a good thing as it doesn’t overpower the overall taste. Besides, I don’t like sambal that is too hot.

Beside Nasi Lemak, one must also try their western menu. We ordered the grill dory fish. The meat is soft with a tinge of wine taste to it.

The price ain’t expensive (I can’t remember how much it was but I think it is less than RM 15). The fries were nice and crispy.

And they gave a spoonful of mixed vegetables too.

Overall this is a good place to have delicious food. For your information, this restaurant was also featured in the popular eating show ‘Ho Chiak’.

Ravi again…

26 10 2009

A short update. Yeah, I know I have blogged about this place but good things are meant to be share. If you have a chance, do drop by Ravi for their delicious roti canai or chapati (pic below) at 3 2 square Petaling Jaya.

Currently this is my favourite breakfast hangout place.

Restoran Kari Kepala Ikan SG @ Subang Jaya

22 10 2009

I was amused when I first heard of a famous curry fish head restaurant in Subang Jaya 3K complex. 3K actually stands for Kompleks Kemudahan Kemasyarakatan which means public sports facility. This place has fitness gym, swimming pool, football field and badminton court. But when I was told about the restaurant, I was wondering how does it fit into the overall picture.

Strangely enough, the restaurant is there alright, located right next to the main entrance of this complex. It looks like a Malay owned restaurant judging by the signage.

What was even more surprising is the popularity of this place. The restaurant was literally packed with people during lunch hours.

My colleague ordered the set promotion which consists of a curry fish head, ayam madu (honey chicken) and mango salad for RM 38.

The portion of the curry fish head was quite huge. The curry has a thick texture to it and tasted good. I find myself pouring a generous serving of the gravy on my plate of rice.

The honey chicken has a slight sour-ish taste to it. I would prefer if it was a wee bit sweeter. But it was still nice.

They also have quite a variety of other stuff to try out.

For something different, we also took the Mee Goreng Mamak (RM 4.80). Suitable for those who prefer noodles than rice.

The Thai Tou Foo was another dish we ordered (RM 8). It has a sweet and sour taste to it. The tou foo was crispy on the outside.

And here is a picture of the big plate of omelet (RM 6) that came with the rest of the food.

Overall I do enjoy the food a lot. The large number of people coming to eat during lunch time is an indication of the good food that they serve there.

Black Canyon Coffee @ Centre Point Bandar Utama

21 10 2009

It has been a while since I discover a nice place to hang out. Black Canyon Coffee at Centre Point offers a nice ambiance for people like me to surf via their free wi-fi service.

While it is not as popular as Starbucks, the food and drinks weren’t too shabby. Their menu certainly looks inviting.

In fact, I enjoyed eating their American Club Sandwich which comes with four slices of sandwiches and french fries. Good choice for a late afternoon snack.

Another shot of the sandwiches.

The drinks were also nicely presented. I enjoyed my iced chocolate which was perfect for a sunny afternoon weather.

And here is a picture of Phuket Paradise which is basically coconut yogurt with pineapple taste.

I was at Black Canyon Coffee with my girlfriend last Saturday. The place was recommended by Yeong since he said that the Internet connection is fast. And he was right. Unlike Starbucks, there weren’t many customers using their laptop when I was there. This means that we can enjoy fast Internet surfing.

Tasty Pot @ Sunway

19 10 2009

Many city dwellers are familar with the famous Yuen restaurant at Sunway when it comes to steamboat buffet. The queue is usually long even on weekdays as the place has earn its reputation as THE place to go for steamboat.

However, with the recent trend of new steamboat restaurants mushrooming around Sunway, food lovers are now spoil with choices when it comes to choosing a place to have dinner. After hearing a lot about ‘Tasty Pot’ which is three storey high restaurant at Sunway, I decided to give it a try last weekend.

As expected, the crowd was over spilling and the time it takes for the waiter to serve us was quite long. Nevertheless, with a large amount of customers, it is understandable that we would need to wait. Anyway, here are the food that we ate.

The seafood were very fresh. My favourite was the crab and prawns.

Can’t wait to put these into the boiling soup. Yummy!

I also took some sotong and mussels, clams…

And while waiting for our soup to boil (we opted for clear soup and tomyam), we had some ready made food to fill our stomach first. The roast chicken was quite good. Not up to Yuen’s standard (they are famous for it) but it was very tasty too.

And for something different, they have fresh clams with fried shallots dipped with sour gravy. I had two of these. Highly recommended.

And for variety, we opted for some fresh vegetables, ham and sea weed.

I also chose some assorted fishballs and ‘tau foo pok’.

One of the best thing I heard about Tasty Pot is that you can actually request them to barbecue the meat that you have picked. The BBQ lamb was very nice and tender. The black pepper sauce goes well with the meat.

But that was just the teaser. We had hand picked a few crabs and prawns for them to barbecue too. After 10 minutes, we went back to the counter and was pleasantly surprised with a plate of lip smacking crabs and prawns.

Trust me, they are really good. The guy who did the barbecuing has some good skills indeed. The meat were nicely cooked, retaining all the freshness of the taste. It is also crispy on the outside while the meat were moist.

I can’t help but to take a few shots of the food…

And finally we had noodles (green version), egg and vegetables for our ‘finale’ dish.

Overall, I find Tasty Pot really urm, tasty. Food is fresh and the BBQ meat is a real plus factor. Highly recommended!

If there is one place I would love to go just to free my mind from the daily stress and worries, it would be Starbucks Coffee. Nothing beats sitting there enjoying some nice music while having all the time in the world for me to do the thing my own things. Some of you may know that I can sit in Starbucks for eight hours straight. It is pretty hard to explain why I like the place so much. Perhaps, tucking myself in a cozy corner listening to my iPod music is what I call home.
