Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt @ Kota Kemuning

2 10 2011

I had a chance to try out Tutti Frutti a few weeks ago at Kota Kemuning. Apparently, Tutti Frutti is a popular soft serve frozen yogurt from USA and is currently franchised by Naza Group of Companies in Malaysia.

What is interesting about Frutti Tutti is that the customers can get to pick and choose the yogurt flavours using the dispensing machine.

Once the cup is filled, the cashier will weigh the cup and the price will be determined accordingly. There are also numerous choices of toppings to add up to the yogurt.

I took the blueberry flavour which costs RM 14.60 @ 275 gm. Taste wise, it was a bit sour but the texture was certainly smooth and creamy.

Besides being a delicious snack, it is interesting to know that yogurt is a good source of protein, calcium, riboflavin and vitamin B 12.

Pun Chun Noodle House @ Kota Kemuning

7 08 2011

It has been months since I last ate at Pun Chun Noodle House. My last visit was at their main branch at Bidor where I have fond memories of the famous duck drumstick that was steamed in rich aromatic herbal soup. Nowadays, food lovers need not travel so far to enjoy their famous home made noodles as Pun Chun has a branch conveniently located at Kota Kemuning.

First up was the Mushroom Chicken Feet Noodle (RM 4.80) which came with three pieces of chicken feet and a huge black mushroom.

My other half complained that the noodle wasn’t as springy as how she remembered it to be. It was also thicker compared to those at Bidor.

However, the chicken feet was tender and the joints were crispy.

I ordered the Duck Drumstick Noodle (RM 8.00) which is their signature dish.

The Duck Drumstick Soup tasted as good as the one from Bidor. The soup was rich and full of herbal flavour. A definitely thumbs up for that.

The duck meat was soft and tender, as a result from its lengthy boiling process. It was a sheer delight biting on the meat with a burst of herbal taste.

However, I have to agree that the noodle wasn’t as springy as the one from Bidor.

It was a disappointment as I was hoping to taste a great meal worthy of the reputation as craved by its Bidor counterpart.

Still the number of customers on a Sunday lunch hour suggest otherwise. Here is hoping that the quality of its noodle will be better on my next visit.

Restoran Soon Hing @ Kota Kemuning

2 05 2011

A while ago, I came to know from my niece of a restaurant called Soon Hing at Kota Kemuning. The restaurant is apparently famous for its Wanton noodle and it is located just a stone throw away from Pun Chun Noodle House which is another famous place to eat around the area.

The overall environment at Soon Hing was clean, hygienic and orderly. This  provided a comfortable dining experience for their customers. Service was also efficient and our food arrived on our table without waiting too long.

First up was the roast duck Wanton noodle. The roast duck skin was crispy while the meat was tender and moist. The duck definitely contributed to the overall tastiness of the meal.

The noodle was springy and freshly made. You can tell how skillful a plate of Wanton mee was made by tasting the texture of the noodle.

The curry chicken Wanton noodle was also noteworthy. Unlike most conventional curry which is more diluted, the curry served with Wanton noodle has to be thick so that it doesn’t become too watery once it is mixed with the black sauce.

The gravy was rich with ‘santan’ and curry flavour. The chicken meat was also delicious.

Soon Hing definitely offers one of the better Wanton noodle around town. If you are living around the vicinity of Kota Kemuning, I am sure you would have heard of this place. The place was packed during the weekend which is a sure sign of the quality of food served there.

Soon Hing offers different varieties of Wanton Noodles. I will definitely make my way back to this restaurant again to try their food soon!

Little Ben Cafe @ Kota Kemuning

25 06 2010

A quick search on the Internet reveals a few noteworthy places to eat around Kota Kemuning. One of them is called Little Ben Cafe which is located next to the Herbaline Beauty Square. Ironically, this charming cafe looks like a house from the outside but it is located within the vicinity of the industrial zone of Kota Kemuning. Hence, it took us quite a fair bit of effort before successfully locating this place (thanks to iPhone GPS function).

The waiter recommended the ‘Village Chicken Rice’ which costs RM 9.90. I noticed that the steam chicken came with sesame seed.

The bean sprouts were crunchy and garnished with some fried shallots.

And the rice had some fragrant flavour in them.

Overall, the food was only average but the ambiance and decor are unmistakably nice.

I don’t mind spending a few hours just to chill out at this cafe. They even provide computers for customers who would like to surf the Internet.

Pun Chun Noodle House @ Kota Kemuning

28 11 2009

I stopped by at Pun Chun Noodle House yesterday for their delicious bowl of Wan Ton mee. For those who doesn’t know, Pun Chun originated from Bidor Perak since the 1940’s and has since grown to be a crowd favourite for its signature Duck Wan Ton noodle.

Thankfully, food lovers do not need to drive all the way to the northern region to enjoy their mouth watering dishes since they have opened a branch at Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam.

The restaurant was already jam-packed with customers as early as 9:00 a.m. I had a chance to grab a seat and ordered their dried Wan Ton noodle. Their noodles are home made using family secret recipe.

It has a ‘springy’ taste when chewed inside the mouth. Besides that their roast pork are marinated overnight and barbecued daily to ensure freshness.

Sliced green chillies with soya sauce go well with the dish.

Apart from that their Wan Ton is really big. According to them, the Wan Ton is also home made with fresh shrimps.

Yummy big Wan Ton…

Overall, I am really happy with the meal which costs RM 6.
