Man Ting Shiang @ Melaka

5 10 2010

When I arrived at Melaka a few weeks back, the first thing I ate was their local Dim Sum. Apparently, we were told that the most famous one is called Man Ting Shiang which is located along Jalan Ong Kim Wee. I had high expectations of this place since the place was already so crowded early in the morning. However, I ended up not being too impressed with the quality of the food there. Simply put, it doesn’t taste as good as the one I had at Foh San in Ipoh or Ful Lai at Kuchai Lama. Price wise, I had no idea how much the meal was as my brother-in-law paid for it.

Anyway, here are some of the food pictures taken.

And what did I say about the morning crowd?

Overall, the Dim Sum were only average at best. I guess once you had tasted something better, it is hard to settled for an average meal without feeling a little disappointed.

Restoran Ful Lai @ Kuchai Lama

22 08 2010

Mention the word ‘Dim Sum’ and the first thing that comes into my mind is Restoran Ful Lai at Kuchai Lama. Located just opposite of Pappa Rich, this coffee shop is usually packed at any time of the day. In fact, their business is so good that their operating hours stretch all the way till 3 a.m.

Two words can probably sum up their Dim Sum; fresh and delicious. The price is not really cheap by comparison (our meal costs RM 50++), but the food was really good. I shall leave you all with the pictures of the food we had. Highly recommended if you are a Dim Sum lover.

Foh San Dim Sum @ Ipoh

20 06 2010

Having heard so much about the famous Foh San at Ipoh, I was looking forward to try out their Dim Sum on my second day at Ipoh. One thing for sure, the place is extremely popular. In order to get a seat in the restaurant, customers would need to be there as early as 7 a.m. When I arrived there at 7:15 a.m., a handful of customers were already seated, waiting for the Dim Sum to be served.

Suffice to say, I was very satisfied with the food there. Not only has Foh San lives up to the hype, their Dim Sum are really fresh. Hence it is no surprise that many food lovers from outstation will make it a point to travel to Ipoh just to have a taste of the Dim Sum there.

Taste Paradise @ Ion Orchard

3 05 2010

I must admit  that my photography skills was rather rusty when I got my  hands on a second hand Nikon D300 a few days back. It took me a while to get used to taking pictures using the viewfinder unlike the conventional point and shoot camera via my iPhone.

Anyway, here are some pictures taken at Taste Paradise which is located at Ion Orchard in Singapore. Uncle Liong and Auntie Serene was nice enough to treat us a meal at this very classy restaurant. The food is good and I heard it is one of the best dim sum restaurant around.

Glutinous rice wrapped with lotus leaf was really tasty.

Most of the time, I was too busy configuring the camera settings and forgot to take down the name of the food we ate. Lol. This is the deep fried prawn with mango roll which comes highly recommended by yours truly.

The roast duck is another dish which I like a lot. The sight of the dish is enough to make everyone feeling hungry!

I can’t remember what this noodle is called but it has little mushrooms. Good stuff indeed.

This is another unique dim sum with soft tofu inside.

Overall it was a very good meal. I am glad that we were able to try out the food at Taste Paradise.
