iscream @ Tropicana City Mall

29 12 2010

When I was a little kid, I always look forward to the ice-cream man with the ringing chimes at my housing area. I still remember a single scoop cone was only 20 cents back then. Nowadays, we are spoil with premium choices ranging from Ben & Jerry, Baskin Robbins to Häagen-Dazs. Though these brands are not cheap, the taste is really irresistible.

When I saw iscream at Tropicana City a while back, I was curious to see how their ice-cream fares.

Apparently, their ice-cream is locally made but rest assured, the quality is on par with some of the better brands out there.

I can’t remember which flavour I choose (apart from the obvious chocolate flavour) but I enjoyed eating them.

The junior scoop costs RM 3.50 which is also quite reasonable.

If you happened to be around Tropicana City (and an ice-cream lover), give this place a try.

Moe De Cafe @ Sunway Giza

13 07 2010

Located at the ground floor of Sunway Giza Mall, Moe De Cafe is a quaint looking place from the outlook. The very first thing that caught my eye was the life-sized Warhammer statue next to the entrance of the restaurant. The imposing statue was certainly an eye-catcher and would piques the interest of those who walks past this cafe.

Besides having a statue besides its front entrance, the cafe have a long stretch of bookshelves which house Japanese manga for free reading. And to top it up, the waitresses’ uniform is similar to those french maid costume!

I ordered the Seafood with Spicy Sauce Bucket Rice (RM 13.90). The meal came with a choice of drink which I chose the Longan Sea Coconut.

The rice was certainly delicious. It was served inside the wooden bucket with squid, clams, prawns and crab sticks among other things.

What makes this meal so nice was the sauce which has a slight tinged of spiciness with seafood taste.

We also took the Fried Spaghetti with Seafood in Special Sauce (RM 10.90). It was fried with some chili and black pepper.

To me, it was certainly appetizing although I wished the portion was bigger.

To top it up, they also included free ice-cream as part of the whole set meal.Instead of the usual plain ice-cream that most restaurants serve, this one has peanut toppings with chocolate syrup. Yummy!

The place is certainly packed with people during dinner time which is a sure sign of its popularity.

Dine Out Restaurant @ Glenmarie

8 06 2010

The question that usually pops up among my colleagues during lunch hour is “Where are we eating today?” Having been to most restaurants around my office area, it is hard pressed to find something new to taste. Henceforth, it was sheer luck that we spotted this new restaurant called Dine Out at Glenmarie when I parked my car further from the usual location.

Although the restaurant carries a traditional Baba Nyonya theme, their food however, is not considered as such. According to the owner, Mr. Gilbert Chin, it is more appropriate to classify their food as authentic Chinese cuisine. Since they were offering a promotional set lunch for RM 9.50 nett, we decided to give it a try. At the moment, there are only two set lunch choices namely, Bean Paste Fish and Curry Chicken.

The Bean Paste Fish came with white rice and an assortment of side dishes. The fish, I believe is Ikan Kembung which was deep fried and covered with Bean Paste.

It may look simple enough but the taste was absolutely wonderful. Kind of reminds me of a good home cook meal. The side dishes were Choy Sam and long beans.

Again, don’t let the simple outlook fool you. The dishes were nicely cook and go well with the fish.

My colleagues took the Curry Chicken set meal. The curry chicken was pretty delicious looking. According to my colleague, the chicken meat was tender while the gravy was very flavoursome. I guess they really enjoyed it a lot.

Another shot of the chicken from another plate…

The Curry Chicken meal came with eggplants as the side dish.

The best thing about the set meal is that it comes with an unlimited serving of ice-creams. Just make your way to the ice cream storage and scoop and eat till you drop.

Interested to try some authentic Chinese cuisine? Well, head over to Dine Out Restaurant today to have a taste of some of the best meal you can taste around town.
