MC Curry Noodles @ Glenmarie

23 05 2010

Last week, while venturing out of my office for lunch, I recalled my colleague mentioning about this famous curry noodle restaurant at Glenmarie, Shah Alam some time ago. And since my taste bud was itching for something spicy that day, we headed down to the place to find out what the buzz was all about.

The first thing that struck me was the name of the name of the restaurant called MC Curry which sounded like an infrignment of trademark of another famous fast food restaurant. But upon searching the Internet, I found out that the owner is actually a ‘Mat Salleh’ named Mcculloch (his grandfather was a Scottish that married a local Chinese), hence the word ‘MC’ on their signage.

My colleague ordered their curry noodle soup which comes with chicken meat, tau fu pock, cockles among other things. The soup smells good and according to her, it was certainly tasty.

Yummy….

I took the dry version of curry noodle. I know that curry noodle taste best with soup but curiosity got the better of me and decided to try that instead. Thankfully, it was good.

The gravy was thick and flavoursome. Coupled with generous amount of potatoes, fried shallots and black sauce, it was a lip smacking meal.

Since the place is very packed during lunch hours, it is advisable to go early to get a seat.

Tao Cuisine & Lounge @ Sunway Giza

21 05 2010

Two days ago, I suggested to my colleagues to try out a new restaurant called Tao Cuisine & Lounge situated at the top floor of Sunway Giza at Kota Damansara. Tao’s concept of buffet spread is slightly different from the usual restaurants. Instead of having all the food pre-prepared on the serving line, customers would need to order the food which will be cooked by their chefs.

Having been to so many buffet restaurants before this, I did not expect much from this place. However, when our food arrived (the waitress recommended the top ten dishes that customers usually order), my impression quickly changed. Not only were the food tasted great, it was one of the best buffet restaurant I have been so far. At RM 58++ per pax, it is certainly not cheap but the quality of the food makes it all worthwhile.

On the side note, the ambiance is dark and I mean really dark. This became a big problem for me as I had to rely on whatever lighting the place has to offer to snap food pictures. Highly recommended if you are looking for good buffet restaurant.

Pan Mee @ Kum Chuan Coffee Shop

19 05 2010

I had a nice lunch with my colleagues at Kum Chuan coffee shop today. Situated near to 3K Sports Complex, this restaurant is usually packed with customers during noon. I was told that the Pan Mee stall here is pretty good and hence, I ordered a bowl to try.

While waiting for the noodle to arrive, I noticed that there were many customers eating Penang Fruit Rojak. Not wanting to be left out, I decided to order a small plate of Rojak as well. What makes this rojak different from the usual ones is the inclusion of dried cuttlefish to give a sweet and salty taste to the dish. I must say, at RM 4 per plate it was something different and definitely worth a try!

The Pan Mee (RM4.30) came shortly after that. There ingredients consists of mince pork, fried anchovies, vegetables and black fungus.

The noodle has a springy texture while the soup was free from MSG flavouring. This is one of the better Pan Mee I have tried so far.

Although the restaurant can be quite hot in the afternoon, the cheap food makes it all worthwhile.

Fusion Haven @ Kota Damansara

16 05 2010

When my colleague wanted to try out the food at Fusion Haven, I knew I had to bring my camera along. Apart from the great food, the restaurant provided a nice opportunity for me to test out my new lens.

Good news is that their set menu is still ongoing which means cheaper food for us all.

I took the Portugese Chicken Rice Pop (RM 7.90) which comes with Ice Lemon Tea. The chicken is nicely fried and tasty.

We also ordered the Unagi Rice Noodle Roll (RM 11.90) for everyone to share.

Here is a picture of the Unagi Omelette (RM 14.90) which I had blogged about previously. It is still one of my favourite by far.

And lastly, this is the Mushroom Sauce with Chicken Meat (RM 8.90) which is the new inclusion for their set lunch menu.

Mother’s Day Celebration

16 05 2010

This year, we decided to celebrate Mother’s Day by having a pot luck style party. Everyone including yours truly have to whip up a dish to be shared among our family members. And it was a good way to spend the night together as most restaurants would be too crowded with overpriced menu anyway.

Here are some of the pictures taken. Fried macaroni with fishcake prepared by my brother in law…

Mango kerabu with fish and fried anchovies by my other half.

And fried spaghetti with button mushrooms, luncheon meat and long beans whipped up by yours truly.

The food weren’t that great except for the ayam masak merah (which I forgot to take a picture), but it was the feeling of having everyone chipping in some homecook food that makes it all worthwhile.

Happy Mother’s Day!

xWindshield

15 05 2010

My cousin has developed a free iphone app which can be downloaded from iTunes. Here is a snippet of what the app is all about.

xWindshield simulates an expensive feature only available in expensive luxury cars. By placing your device facing up to your windshield, the speed and direction of your car will be projected onto the windshield. Hence, you can concentrate on looking straight to the road while having a rough idea of your speed and direction. This is commonly known as Heads-Up Display (HUD)

Features included:

✓ HUD mode for night time use. Project your speed and direction to your windshield

✓ Normal readable mode for day time usage

✓ Speed in two types of units (Kilometer per hour, and Miles per hour)

✓ Easy to switch between modes and units. Touch the screen and it’ll toggle between different modes and units

✓ Clean uncluttered screen for easy reading

To download this cool app, just click here.

You can also see the app in action via YouTube.

Noel @ Empire Gallery

12 05 2010

I woke up early last Sunday and joined Jackal and Dion for a photoshoot with Noel. We decided to choose the newly opened Empire Gallery shopping mall at Subang Jaya for our photo outing. Noel was a great sport despite being a little uncomfortable at first. Unfortunately, the session did not last long as we were all feeling hungry soon after.
